Environmental toxicology and Ecotoxicology

Environmental toxicology and ecotoxicology are two of the application branches of toxicology that have recently evolved, providing information of great interest in toxicological and ecotoxicological risk assessment and management,  mainly associated to persistent environmental contaminants: from the analytical detection and quantification of contaminants in multiple and diverse types of  biological and non-biological samples, to the observation of effects in individuals, populations and ecosystems; from the search for sentinel species and/or indicator species, to the search for markers and biomarkers of exposure and effect; from the conception of toxic-organism contact as the origin of the classical toxicology study, to the multifactorial concept toxic-molecule/individual/population-medium of the current toxicology.

Our service offers, in certain situations, the possibility of conducting research related to ecotoxicology and environmental toxicology. Nowadays, we participate in three projects/ research lines and service about these issues, funded by the Spanish Ministry through specific programs:
